Statement of the Iran Autism Association on International Youth Day(12 Aug 2025)

“Youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow – they are the co-creators of today.”
On this International Youth Day, we honor not only the promise that youth hold for the future, but the vibrant role they already play in shaping our world.
Among them are autistic youth, visionaries whose perspectives widen our understanding, whose creativity knows no boundaries, and whose resilience inspires communities everywhere.
Too often, however, their voices are muted, their paths are chosen on their behalf, and their dreams are pushed aside under the banner of “preparation.”
We believe that preparation is not about waiting for the right time, it is about making space now for their leadership, their artistry, their science, and their advocacy to flourish.
At the Iran Autism Association, we stand alongside young autistic people as equal partners:
Partners in designing truly inclusive programs.
Partners in dismantling stereotypes.
Partners in building bridges between families, educators, and policymakers.
Today, we call upon global youth movements, organizations, and decision-makers to ensure there is space for autistic youth at every table, not as a token gesture, but as a genuine commitment to shared leadership and shared futures.
Because the future does not belong to “them” or “us” alone.
The future is a creation we build together and it begins now.
